FORT SMITH, AR – Arkansas Oklahoma Gas Corporation (AOG) recently completed an effort to clear utility easements in the communities the company serves.

“We believe we have a shared responsibility to care for our communities. As a utility company, we honor that responsibility to promote environmental safety, comply with city codes, and foster pride in property owners,” said Tony Parker, Director of Operations, AOG.

By partnering with local communities, the utility has been able to address easements overgrown with environmental hazards like poison ivy and poison oak, to enhance the safety of AOG’s team and customers.

In total, AOG partnered with Greenwood, Hackett and Van Buren in Arkansas. They also partnered with Sallisaw in Oklahoma.

Keeping easements clean can reduce environmental hazards like dangerous plants along with infestations of insects and other pests that thrive in underbrush. Clearing these easements fosters a safer environment for community members while also enhancing a utility’s emergency response time and construction activities.

This is another way for AOG to develop smart community strategies and displays the company’s commitment to conservation.
