Arkansas Oklahoma Gas Opens Applications for Annual Community Giving Program

More Than $20,000 Pledged for Service Area Non-Profits

FORT SMITH, Arkansas (April 1, 2022) – Arkansas Oklahoma Gas (AOG) has launched its 2022 charitable giving grant program for qualifying nonprofit organizations that serve its service territory.

“At AOG, we understand we are only as strong as the communities we serve. Providing community resources is one of the ways in which we can support our customers and community members,” said Fred Kirkwood, Chief Customer Experience Officer at AOG.

Through the program, $20,000 will be donated to qualifying organizations in Arkansas that focus on Food Insecurity and Child Well-being & Advocacy Programs.

While we will welcome all applications submitted, AOG strives to align our budgeted community dollars to support community organizations across our service territory, impacting our areas of focus. Successful grants will be awarded to 501c3 non-profit organizations that focus on food insecurity and child well-being and advocacy programs.

The application window is open now through May 13, 2022. Grant recipients will be announced by June 1, 2022.

Unfortunately, AOG cannot consider requests from outside our service area. We also cannot give to political organizations and most school fundraising efforts.

In addition to supporting community causes, AOG also provides members of our team with up to 20 hours of paid time off each year to volunteer in the communities we serve.

AOG provides natural gas service to approximately 60,000 residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural customers in Arkansas and Oklahoma. The company has been serving the residential and commercial customers in Fort Smith and the surrounding area with safe and reliable natural gas service for nearly 75 years.

Based in Fort Smith in the heart of the Arkoma Basin, this area is rich in natural gas production. That gives AOG the ability to access and transport natural gas produced from local wells. These local supplies, in combination with the ability to obtain natural gas from interstate pipelines, enables AOG to provide reliable natural gas service to all its customers. In 2017, AOG joined a larger group of natural gas utilities when it combined with Summit Utilities, Inc. This added expertise to the team, as well as additional financial resources, for ongoing growth and investments to protect the integrity and safety of AOG’s natural gas system.
