Arkansas Oklahoma Gas Enters Final Year of $60,000 Charitable Giving Commitment to Local Non-Profits

4/24/2025

Fort Smith, Arkansas (April 24, 2025) – Arkansas Oklahoma Gas (AOG), a subsidiary of Summit Utilities, Inc. (Summit), is proud to kick off the third and final year of its Summit Cares Charitable Giving Grant Program, a $60,000, three-year commitment supporting five non-profit organizations serving communities across AOG’s service territory.

“AOG believes we’re only as strong as the communities we serve,” said Fred Kirkwood, SVP and Chief Customer Experience Officer. “This grant program is about creating lasting impact, not just through financial support, but through meaningful relationships with organizations doing the work on the ground every day.”

2023–2025 Grant Recipients:

  • Arkansas Colleges of Health Education Research Institute
  • Donald W. Reynolds Cancer Support House
  • Fort Smith Boys & Girls Club
  • South Sebastian County Boys & Girls Club
  • Stepping Stone School

Each of these non-profits has received $4,000 annually since 2023, bringing AOG’s total charitable contribution to $60,000 by the end of 2025. The goal of the program is to provide sustained funding that allows non-profit partners to focus more on serving the community and less on seeking short-term funding.

These organizations were chosen based on their alignment with Summit’s four core giving focus areas: Basic Human Needs, Community Enrichment, Environmental Stewardship, and STEAM Education.

In addition to financial support, AOG also empowers employees to give back, offering up to 20 hours of paid volunteer time annually for team members to support local organizations and causes.
