6/17/2025

Van Buren, Arkansas (June 17, 2025) – Arkansas Oklahoma Gas (AOG) presented a $5,000 disaster relief check Tuesday to the United Way of Fort Smith Area and its disaster relief partner, the Salvation Army, to support ongoing recovery efforts following the devastating tornado that struck Van Buren on June 8. The funds will go directly toward assisting families displaced by the storm.

“We’re proud to stand with the Van Buren community in this time of need,” said Fred Kirkwood, AOG’s Chief Customer Officer. “Supporting the vital work of the United Way and Salvation Army ensures that families aren’t left behind as they begin the long road to recovery.”

Following the tornado that swept through Van Buren, United Way and the Salvation Army were among the first to respond, mobilizing aid and continuing to coordinate recovery efforts across Crawford County.

Also on Tuesday, AOG took part in the Touch-A-Truck event at Van Buren High School by bringing one of its service trucks on-site, giving families a hands-on look at the tools used to serve their communities every day.
