Stay Warm This Winter with These Payment Resources and Heating Assistance Programs

Winter ushers in the holidays and cozy evenings at home, but it also brings colder temperatures that can drive up natural gas bills. We understand that a warm home is essential to your comfort and well-being — and that nothing should stand in the way of it.

We’re committed to connecting you with programs that can help ease the stress of winter utility costs. From our own services to resources available at the local and state level, these options are designed to help you manage energy expenses and keep your family comfortable all season long.

Flexible Payment Plans

We understand that life is unpredictable. There are countless reasons for a late payment, and we’re here to help you navigate a path forward with a Delayed/Deferred Payment Agreement (DPA). When you enroll, we’ll divide your full balance into equal, monthly installments to be paid over a specific period. This allows for uninterrupted service and the opportunity to bring your account up to date.

To enroll in a flexible payment plan, call one of our representatives at 800-842-5690, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Summit Heating Assistance Fund

Beyond state-funded programs, we wanted to find a way to support our customers directly during the coldest months of the year. That’s why we created the Summit Heating Assistance Fund. The program helps customers in Arkansas Oklahoma Gas, service area who are struggling to pay their heating bills. The fund is supported by contributions from Summit Utilities and by customers who generously donate through their monthly bills. These combined efforts allow us to provide eligible customers with up to $200 in aid to help cover past-due natural gas bills during the heating season, or until program funds are exhausted.

Program funds are administered by the United Way of Fort Smith Area (UWFSA). To qualify for assistance, applicants must provide proof of Arkansas Oklahoma Gas service in a qualifying area and a copy of a past-due bill showing the balance owed.

Average Monthly Payments (AMP)

Take the guesswork out of your bills. AMP offers greater predictability for your natural gas bill and helps you have lower natural gas bills during the colder months. With AMP, we start with your current month’s bill and add the totals from your bills from the previous 11 months. This total is then added to any accrued debit or credit balance and divided by 12. This is especially helpful during winter months—when natural gas bills tend to be higher—to help alleviate the stress of unexpected spikes.

Enroll in AMP

We know not everyone likes managing their bills online, so we also offer options to pay your bill by phone, by mail, or in person at an authorized retail location.

Tips for Cutting Energy Usage

There are plenty of small things you can do to be proactive and help keep your winter energy consumption down. For home improvements, consider installing a high-efficiency furnace or water heater (view available rebates), caulking gaps around windows, and applying weatherstripping to door frames to keep warm air inside. In your day-to-day life, things like lowering the thermostat when you’re sleeping or away, setting ceiling fans to spin clockwise, or opening your curtains on sunny days can all help reduce your energy costs.
